you are here are you here here you are

hello tumblr.  you’re safe, reliable, and basically anonymous as no one reads this or comments.  can you even comment?  tumblr, i fucking hate you.

some burning questions:

why was my total at kroger 20.13?

what am i going to show at crit for ceramics?

what am i going to show at crit for sculpture?

what will i eat for lunch (a beef and cheese explosion burrito)?

who is your audience?

(FUCK YOU)

will fringe suck tonight?

will 30 rock suck tonight?

will i care either way?

will things happen?

are there bugs in my open container of jelly beans?

is oprah onto something?

why are things always exactly the opposite?

what’s the fun of knowing that?

knowing that, why do things continue to be fun?

why haven’t i beaten super mario galaxy 2?  (because i’m back in school)

does this t-shirt make me look fat?  (no, you’re just fat)

um, just look at my flickr:

please and thank you!

(end scene!)

updating is totally like working, right?

why hello there internet!  there are a little less than two weeks before school officially begins, although there are some school-y obligations on the calendar for next week.  i am excited, obvs, but also trying to leisurely enjoy the last bits while remaining productive.

the studio is all set up and the pictures are up on my flickr.  i’ve also made some progress on mr. bear head for my apartment which is inspiring some other ideas.  i’ll post a picture when it’s done since my camera battery is dead and the charger isn’t here.  i kind of wish i could just move my cats and bed into the studio and make things easier.

so instead of the bear head, here is a large finished teddy bear.  i can’t wait to get him glazed and then crochet a super frilly collar.

but i am the most excited about my collaborative piece with ms. rae rae!  ugh, what fun and freedom!  i had these fabric wall pieces planned but i knew they’d end up super tight and restrictive and working like this will totally allow me to overcome all that crap.  yesterday in columbus i went to an AWESOME ohio thriftstore and got all sorts of awesome fabrics in the best colors.  i can’t wait to do some characters and text pieces!

(the wall is a little too busy for the piece, but you get the idea.)

time to actually do something, like look at the internet!

a girl’s got to get where a girl’s got to go!

good news everybody, mama is in her studio!  i love it, it’s massive, and it’s mine.  here’s the classic makeover before shot.  i know it looks so empty and barren, but don’t worry, i really fagged it up in a short amount of time.  tomorrow will involve a bunch of organizing and at least one trip to lowe’s.

i wonder if i can still get the trash to the curb?

hello!  it’s thursday, and i am spending this nice overcast day reading, sewing, and recuperating.  we’re in the midst of these crazy woodfirings and i managed to get injured yesterday when i dropped a log on my toe.  andy = wood firing guru to the stars.

thanks to an awesome teacher i can use my sewing machine and it’s the best!  i am working on some sewn experimental forms to get comfortable and try out some ideas quickly.  here’s an in-process shot:

oh yeah, and today marks one month in ohio.

another day another post.

here’s a clearer shot of my temporary studio space.  note that i haven’t even begun to unpack my tchochkes or wigs.  i love how GIANT the spaces are here (mine is a tad smaller but i prefer the layout) and the rad ceilings.  today will be about slab faces and some clay mixing.  also, predators.

i am TOTES the worst!

ugh, sorry for not updating in a million years.  i moved to athens, ohio on the first and am pretty settled in and all, just H-O-T!  my place has no central air and i am way too cheap to buy a window unit (but not 2 fantastic floor rugs or contemplate a mag table) so i just kind of suffer and don’t do too much thinking.  it’s actually fine in the mornings and at night and i love my little apartment so i shouldn’t complain too much.

this is a picture of me in my temporary studio space.  my space is currently occupied and i’ll be moving in early august but this one is huge and will allow me to make some stuff and get a good start on things before school starts in september.

it’s tiny up here but i love it.  i love that my studio is 1 mile from my house and 3 friends from my department live one block away in one direction and 3 friends live one block away in the other.  i love having a bike and feeling safe while riding it.  i love the time and space i can devote to making.  and i love that it’s still not as hot here as it is in atlanta.

right now i’m working on teddy bears, slip cast cassette tapes, bear heads, prize ribbons, slab portraits, and arms.  i’ll get some pictures on here when i have them.
